The music world is a very tricky one and to succeed in the music industry as a group is even trickier. Unlike individual artists, music groups/bands have often faced a harder time breaking into the music scene and even when they do, just a few stay in the industry for a longtime.
Several reasons account to why music groups usually break or just suddenly disappear from the entertainment world. These reasons range from money, clash of personalities, ego, conflicting goals to musical differences.
Surprisingly, unless the significant others are involved with the band, marriage could play an important part in the failure of a band.
Below are African music groups which can no longer be found in the world of entertainment because of marriage.
P-Square– P-Square were an award-winning Nigerian popular hip-hop and R&B duo of identical twins Paul Okoye and Peter Okoye. The bond between these brothers started to fade away a few months after one of them, Peter Okoye had married his wife, Omotola Lola Okoye. The brothers started fighting against each other and even took some of their fights to social media. Rumours have it that the brothers got into fights because of Peter’s wife.
However, Peter confirmd the rumours when he disclosed on his social media page that his brother, Paul does not respect his wife and that was the reason behind their split.
The duo finally split in September 2017 and are presently pursuing solo music careers.

Ghanaians last heard of this group back in 2014 when they dropped their banger, “Dance” featuring Davido and since then, not even jingle has been dropped by them, they have been individually releasing songs yet they have denied all claims that their group is dead. The group after the release of the track in 2014, that same year Captain Planet got married to his wife, Uche Ofodile.
In 2018, Captain Planet disclosed that as a man you need to listen to your wife’s advise because he, (Captain Planet) was once told by his wife to stay away from friends. Now think about this.
Praye– Praye was a Ghanaian group that was popular in the 90’s and 2000’s and was later named winners of the Nescafe Africa Revelation, Ghana Edition in 2004.
The trio was made up of Cartel Big Jay, Eugene and Praye Tintin.
After Praye left the team, Eugene, one of the remaining two got married to an actress by name Beverly Afaglo, a few years later. After Eugene’s marriage to the actress, their group did not last a year before it collapsed.
However, around 2017, two members of the group decided to resurrect their team but Eugene refused and according to Praye Tintin in an interview, Eugene’s refusal to rejoin the group was because of his wife’s influence.
